Hi from Ann
Six local volunteers met at the Bowler (Bowling Green) at 10 am this beautiful Saturday morning to plant hardy, deep rooting Oioi grass along the Piha Stream margins. A big, lime green, Auckland City Council signage flag made their team easy to find. With spade in hand, we made our way to the site where busy Council staff had laid the potted grass in position for us to plant.

More people joined in and by 12 noon the job was done. It was back to the Bowler where Fiona’s famous leek and potato soup was steaming hot and ready for lunch. Fresh bread and buns, sizzling sausages on the barbie, oranges, orange juice, a cuppa, and most of all – convivial company – completed the worthwhile event.

Getting on with the job.
