Author’s Christmas Cheer

Eileen Merriman was the winner of the Graeme Lay Short Story Competition 2015.

Eileen Merriman was the winner of the Graeme Lay Short Story Competition 2015.

Great company, the finals of the 2015 Graeme Lay Short Story Competition with a reading of the winner’s work, a fantastically festive supper, and a hilarious auction made the December NZ Society of Authors’ Christmas meeting extra special.

Graham Lay said that Eileen Merriman’s short story, “Primum Non Norcere” or “First, Do Not Harm”, was beautifully written and emotionally engaging from its opening sentence. It was a story that could hold its own in any literary company.

Congratulations, Eileen – and to all the others who entered!
